The Sum Of Its' Parts.....

Today was the day of the funeral for Linda's brother. How do you sum up 64 years of someone's life in less than an hour ? How do you impart the love of a man for his family, career and country in the amount of time it would take you to drive to the corner store for a loaf of bread or a gallon of milk ? Is it possible to reveal the selfless dedication of a man wounded in combat, almost losing his life, and then giving back as a civilian in service to his country. It is and was done today, as seen through the eyes of his family, friends and loved ones. In a manner befitting this family, people spoke from their heart about the wonderful accomplishments of John and his modest life that touched so many people. John didn't think that anyone would attend his services but he was so wrong. There was a steady stream of people at his viewing Friday night and a room full of people today for his service.

After the service and graveside service, we went to the Marine Corp where there were refreshments. There we heard more stories about John, some poignant...most humorous. It was a moving day, one filled with reflection, laughter and tears. A simple service for a simple, humble man. He wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
