Today the music world lost a great performer...Bob Bogle from The Ventures
I cut my teeth on music, listening to albums such as The Ventures. My mom had a great collection of their records and I loved their sound. I guess I didn't realize that they had created the Hawaii Five O theme, although that was also one of my favorite TV shows...Kind of a predecessor to Law and Order. The Ventures instrumental style was fresh, vibrant and one you couldn't sit still listening to.
Bob Bogle formed the group with a fellow construction worker in Tacoma, Washington in 1958. Bogle had non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, which he had been battling for the last 12 years. The Ventures were voted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008.
